Isang Bansa, Isang Diwa

#Freedom

By: Tristan Jhae C. De Vera Every year, citizens from different countries celebrate a momentous occasion for each and everyone, their freedom. This freedom or independence is the birth of a nation just like here in the Philippines, this freedom is celebrated as a special non-working holiday. Here in the Philippines, the Filipinos gathered around in one corner to observe our national day. Its celebration always starts in the 28 th of May with the displaying of the national flag in their homes, offices, and establishments. This is done to commemorate the first hoisting of the flag in a battle called Battle of Alapan in Cavite. After this commemoration day, the Filipinos started to wear Philippine-made textile products such as barong, terno, and indigenous clothing and fabrics. The funfair has also started with many children are enjoying those rides.   The Filipino language is also encourage to use as a support to the day where other nation recognized the country as a sovere...

The Course of Discipline

By: Tristan Jhae C. De Vera At this moment, our country is facing many issues such as corruption and environmental pollution. But do you know where these issues rooted?   It’s simple, lack of discipline. We can change all of these by having that sense. Since childhood, we have a responsibility for our country, but because of the liberal ideology, we’ve forgotten the authoritarian one, discipline. That authoritarian ideology has lost its course since we regain our freedom. Look around at this room and tell me whether I’m right or wrong. Throwing trashes in the trash bin, fixing your things, and respecting someone talking in front of you, are we doing it properly? Go out, vehicles counter-flowing, people jaywalking, and traffic congestion, all of these acts lack discipline. We will not experience any progress if we do not make an action. Batanes, Davao, Singapore, Japan, their people have discipline because they love their city, and country and they want their lives ...
